Alex joins the Coaching Team
British Nordic is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Standen as Pathway Coach to the British Nordic Development Squad (BNDS).
Alex joins the coaching team with a host of international race experience.
As Pathway Coach, Alex will take a leading role in supporting our British Nordic Youth and Junior athletes to achieve performance targets up to and including World Junior level. Alex will coordinate a team of volunteer coaches and will work closely with the British Ski & Snowboard Nordic Head Coach to develop talented athletes.
Alex is an existing member of the GB Cross-Country Ski Performance Squad and a first generation product of our pathway programme. Having competed in World Championships and World Cups, Alex has gained coaching qualifications to an internationally recognised standard and is already working with young athletes.
Alex's combined experience, knowledge and skills will be an asset to all those who are dedicated to progression to world class performances in cross-country skiing.
Commenting upon his appointment Alex said "I am delighted to have the opportunity of working with performance driven athletes and also all the parties with an interest in this role. For me it marks a natural progression from my racing career and current coaching and I relish the challenges which lie ahead ".
