British Nordic's purpose is to facilitate the long-term athlete development pathway from club athlete to national team level.  We were formulated, under our present structure in 2001, to ensure that there was an opportunity for young athletes to progress into the Great Britain Racing teams.

As a result of many years of hard work by athletes, volunteers and coaches, athletes have progressed up through the system and are now competing on the world stage.  At the top end of the Team, the "World Elite Squad"  athletes are racing at Continental and World Cup level and some of them have been selected by the national governing body British Ski & Snowboard through agreed performance criteria to represent Team GB at major championships.  In 2010, 2014 and 2018, the British Olympic Association in conjunction with BSS selected our skiers to represent Great Britain at the Winter Olympic Games.

Our aims and objectives are:

  • to offer coaching and competitive opportunities in cross-country (nordic) skiing

  • to promote our Development Squads within the United Kingdom and nordic skiing for juniors

  • to manage all Team assets, training and competitions both within the UK and overseas

  • to ensure a duty of care to all members

  • to provide all our services in a way that is fair to everyone

  • to ensure that all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment
